About our speaker:
Dr L.A. Scott, Psychologist, is fully licensed by the Ontario College of Psychologists to practice in these areas of competency:
• Paediatric Neuropsychology, including Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Diagnosis Services, assessments for Traumatic/Acquired Brain Injury, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Neurodevelopmental disorders, Sleep hygiene and disorders/difficulties in children and adolescents
• Child/Adolescent & Adult Clinical Psychology. Areas of training topics to organizations, agencies, individuals and community
groups on a variety of topics including: FASD; Traumatic/Acquired Brain Injury; FASD; Neurodevelopmental Disorders; Sleep hygiene and disorders/difficulties in children & adolescents. Other topics can be arranged as requested.

Practical Cognitive Supports™ for People with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
Nate Sheets is an international FASD behaviour consultant, speaker, and advocate. He has a decade of experience in the developmental disability field and helps families, schools, mental health programs, and government agencies understand the needs of people with FASD. Nate takes neuropsychology concepts and finds practical ways to apply them to challenging behaviours in a way that values the dignity and respect of all people involved.
Registration 8:30 am, Workshop 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Registration closes May 8, 2019
Learning Outcomes:
– Participants will be able to use tools provided to understand the cognitive struggles and strengths of those with FASD
– Participants will be able to start re-thinking many behaviors and expectations through a “Cognitive Skills Lens,” allowing for individualization in any setting
– Participants will apply Cognitive Supports principles right away, and know what to do when things don’t go according to plan

About Dan Dubovsky
Dan has worked for over 40 years in the field of behavioural health, in residential, outpatient, and hospital settings. Dan has been involved in the field of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) for over 25 years, 14 of them as the FASD Specialist for the SAMHSA FASD Center for Excellence in the United States. His son, Bill, has been his mentor and best teacher in understanding what it is like to live with FASD and how providers and family members need to change their approach.

The FASD Ontario website www.FASDON.ca offers great information for parents and caregivers of people with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), as well as for service providers who work with people affected by FASD.Four webinars will take place to help users make the most of the website. Note that the daytime ones are intended for service providers and evening sessions are for parents and caregivers. The webinars will be recorded. [The recordings will be available on the website too once they take place.]
